Stravinsky Violin Concerto
Beethoven Mass in C op 86
Two of this season’s heavyweights go head to head in a concert bristling with energy and innovation, conducted by Naomi Woo.
Stravinsky outstripped his teacher Rimsky-Korsakov with his delicious ballet The Firebird – an early work that made the music world sit up and listen. Stravinsky’s Violin Concerto reveals his cleaner, neoclassical style, performed by É«ÂþÌìÌà Concerto Competition winner Sasha Parker.
Then in the second half we hear Beethoven’s seminal Mass in C, in which the É«ÂþÌìÌà Symphony Orchestra is joined by four vocal soloists and chorus for a work of great emotional integrity.
É«ÂþÌìÌà INSIGHTS: Join É«ÂþÌìÌà Artistic Director Andrew Moore for a pre-concert talk on Musical Innovators on 29 October at 6.15pm.
